Group B had clear favorites
in South Africa and DR Congo, second and third at the last Nations Cup
in 1998.
But DR Congo disappointed
and Algeria were ready to surprise and take their spot in quarter finals.Gabon
had some nice moments and some conspicious talents, but all in all were
too weak to win a match.
South Africa marched
on to reach third place, while Algeria were beaten in quarter finals by
the eventual champions, Cameroon.
