World Cup 2002 - African qualification
THE MATCHES

50 teams have enrolled for the qualification
missing: Niger and Burundi
(both very poor and with logistic problems what might be the problem, Burundi had enrolled but withdrew before the draw. Reports on the true reasons are not known)
A preliminary knock-out round has been played in April to reduce the field from 50 to 25.

Then 5 groups of 5 teams have been drawn. They will play each other from June 16 2000 until July 29th of 2001 (10 weekends).
