Ghana fielded
a young team which played a committed and sometimes neat looking football
but lacked impact in attack. They scored only in one match and this grace
to the even greater inexperience of their Burkinabé opponents.
The tournament could
be seen positively anyway as the Ghanaians made it clear from the start
that the main target is building a team to qualify for the World Cup 2006.
It will be a difficult task as the past has shown that the journey of the
talents through the European clubs seems unpredictable as the future of
coaching of the Black Stars.
A setback was the expulsion
of Sammy Kuffour from the camp during the group matches but it did not
really seem to the disadvantage of the Ghanaian play.
Basically the football
of this team looked promising although there was a visible inferiority
in the quarter final against Nigeria.
To be successful in
the future this team will have to find the answer to the question why Ghanas
play alaway looks good but they are a low scoring tournament team for 20
years now.
