Chile - Morocco
4:1 (final)
1st half:
- first minutes see enormous
attacking by Morocco and Chile with no choice left but counter attacks
-('6)
a key scene: a tackle by a Morocco defender (#5 Chboukia), referee says
it is a tackle from behind and gives a red card (the scene has not been
to see clearly - I have not seen this rule applied since two years ago)
-the shock is obvious, Chile
now in control of the game
-('16) actions like a great
solorun by #11 El Moubarki draw a lot of sympathies for the Morocco team
which is down to 10, but Chile is more dangerous now
-('20) it is #11 again who
is eventually stopped by a good tackle from the Chile defence
-('22) another good opportunity
for Morocco, their fast attacks come in waves towards the Chile goal now.
Will they be able to keep that tempo?
-('32) Morocco #12 El Khattari?
is all free in the penalty area but his direct shot from 15 meters goes
up into the air
Often Morocco intercepts
passes in their half or in midfield and immediately goes into counter attack
with them
Chile is trying to play
it coolly, concentrated, and waiting for Morocco to get tired
And they got Zamorano:
-('36) a cross from the
right hand side to the second goal post is headed beack into the middle,
there is Zamorano, he heads it into the net. Morocco has tried to put him
offside but it seems a regular goal - 1:0
The Morocco players who
feel unlucky with this match and with the referee since the red card have
to concentrate hard now that they do not fall apart under this turn of
events
-('45) a penalty after
a foul by #7 against Chile #8, no discussion here, Zamorano fires it into
the goal - 2:0
halftime 2:0
There is some tragic around
the recent appearances of Morocco football on world level: first the tough
luck at France, then Raja Casablanca going home with empty hands from the
World Club championship despite a well diplay and now a similar discourse
here in the first half.
FIFA should think about
whether the impact of close referee decisions cannot be lowered. The confusion
of indivdual and team punishments in football stands against much better
solutions in other sports.
2nd half:
-('46) Morocco with a first
half chance, they do not look like they have given up
-('50) Zamorano is completely
unmarked at a corner but his header goes across the bar
it has not only been
tough luck, it is also that Chile do not have such blunders in their game
-('55) a fast counter
attack by Chile, perfectly played, and who is it - Zamorano - 3:0
Maybe Morocco should
better start to settle for the result instead of taking more risks and
a thrashing
-('57) it looks so: #4 Ouchla
comes in for #8 Oulmers
-('70) another penalty
after a counter-attack: foul against Zamorano, he leaves it to #11Navia
- 4:0
-('72) ovations for Zamorano
as he gets replaced by #7 Gonzalez
-('78) it is only centimeters
wide for Morocco #11, one of the most conspicious players on the field
on a a fast break and a shot from difficult angle
-('79) the long deserved
goal for Morocco: a free kick from the left hand side and a header by #4
Ouchla - 4:1
the goal has given some
more momentum to the Morocco game, they fight as if they were only one
goal down while Chile just tries to take the result home
-('86) Chile with a big
opportunity against the exposed defence of attacking Morocco
-('88) spectacular shot
by a Morocco player volleying a cross flying through the air, but it goes
across the bar
Spain - Korea Rep.
3:0 (final)
-1:0 ('10) Velamazan
-2:0 ('26) Jose Mari
-3:0 ('37) Xavi
spectacular goals by the
Spanish who confirmed their co-favorite status for the tournament |
