Togo
Togo were drawn
into a heavy group with three West- and Central African giants of the game.
Coming out with four points and only two goals short of qualification was
more than could have been expected resultwise.
But the truth behind the
table was a bit different: controversy between the federation president
and the German coach Goeller led to the departure of the latter during
the tournament. And the three points against Cameroon came also thanks
to the little focused approach of the Central Africans.
#10 Sherif Maman Touré
displayed his improvement but could not make enough impact to really turn
Togo into a top rank team as the other three in the group. |
