The
situation before the match:
a loss with one goal difference in this, their last qualification match, would put Morocco through to the finals, all worse could mean out for them. Guinea with another match ahead desperately needed a draw, because a loss would mean they will have to win their final match at home with at least a 3 goal margin (or more depending on the result here). Morocco started as the
huge crowd expected from their celebrated all-star team. Guinea payed for
their shyness in the beginning by conceding an early goal after a corner
(Reuters: 6th min).
Compared to Togo, who
drew at Morocco, Guinea looks the more exciting team, but now they will
have to beat Togo by at least 3 goals on the June 19/29 weekend, an enormous
task. And a consequence from the very first match, a 0:2 loss at Togo.
With the attitude shown it will be worth trying anyway.
